It’s 20 degrees outside, there’s 2 feet of snow in my yard and I have to wrap my baby in 16 layers just to take my older kids to school. Yet despite this, my calendar tells me that spring is here.
The sun is setting later, the birds are starting to chirp and everywhere I turn in southern Vermont, I see smoke coming from maple sugarhouses and long pipelines winding through the leafless trees to collect sap.
